LG Subwoofer no power light or LG subwoofer not turning on? Here are some fixes that you need to do right away to fix LG Soundbar not working problem.
Last month, my LG subwoofer did not turn on. I inspected the connection, power supply, and cables, and everything was good to go. I turned on the switch, but the power light did not glow, nor did the subwoofer turn on.
I spend hours researching for possible reasons why my LG subwoofer is not turning on. Finally, I figured out a couple of reasons why it happened.
During the research, I also found out that I am not alone. Thousands of other LG soundbar and subwoofer owners are facing the same problem.
Follow the troubleshooting fixes below if your LG subwoofer does not turn with no power light.
Fix LG Subwoofer No Power Light
If your LG subwoofer’s power light does not glow, then it means the power is not reaching the subwoofer. You must start by inspecting the power supply and ensuring the cable is connected correctly. Change the wall socket and extension cord, and try unplugging and connecting the LG subwoofer after 5 minutes.
Unplug LG Subwoofer
Unplugging and reconnecting the LG subwoofer is the first thing you need to do when the power light is not glowing, or the LG Subwoofer does not turn on.
So all you need to do is unplug the LG subwoofer and keep it idle for about five minutes.
Once five minutes are up, plug the LG subwoofer back in and turn it on.
See if the power LED lights up this time.
If you have been using your LG subwoofer continuously for a prolonged period, unplugging it and connecting it again after some time should help you fix the problem.
It is a temporary workaround and is not guaranteed to work every time. Nevertheless, try it and see if it helps you turn on the LG subwoofer.
If unplugging and reconnecting the LG subwoofer didn’t help you fix the problem, move ahead with the other troubleshooting steps below.
Disconnect All Devices
In some instances, disconnecting all the devices connected to the subwoofer can help you fix the problem.
Firstly, unplug the LG subwoofer.
Go ahead and detach all the cables connected to the LG subwoofer. If your subwoofer is connected to an LG soundbar, make sure to unplug them.
After removing every other device connected to the LG subwoofer, try plugging it in again and turn on.
See if the power light lights up this time. If yes, there has been some problem with the device being connected to the subwoofer or the cable.
Now plug in all the devices again one by one.
As soon as you connect the problematic device back to your subwoofer, it may turn off, or the power LED might go out.
Corrupt Firmware
Your LG subwoofer may have gotten bricked from corrupt firmware installation.
After digging through multiple forums, I learned I’m not alone. A lot of LG subwoofer owners are facing the same issue. Post the firmware update, the subwoofer bricked.
Since firmware updates take place automatically at any time, your subwoofer may suddenly fail to turn on. Well, it can be because of a failed firmware update.
As the subwoofer is bricked, it may suffer from electrical or connectivity issues.
Since the issue is with the firmware, you only need to flash the ROM.
Flashing the ROM on an LG subwoofer cannot be done at home. You must take your subwoofer to the nearest repair shop and let them upgrade or flash the ROM.
Many people have managed to fix the problem by simply flashing the ROM. In the worst case, you will have to replace the PCB board inside of the Subwoofer.
If your LG subwoofer is still under warranty, it is advised that you claim the warranty and get your subwoofer system repaired free of cost. Refer to the section below for more details about claiming the warranty and contacting LG support.
Replace PCB/Motherboard
It seems the PCB failure rate is a bit high for the LG subwoofer.
I talked to a couple of LG subwoofer users who faced this problem where the power LED is always off.
They had to take their subwoofer to the nearest service center to get it repaired. The problem was with the PCB. The issue went away soon after replacing the PCB with the newer one.
If your LG subwoofer is still covered under warranty, then the best option would be to talk to an LG customer support team and either take it to the nearest Service Center or ship it to their authorized service center.
PCB replacement cost can be significantly high if your subwoofer is out of warranty. Check online and offline stores and see if you can find a PCB for your subwoofer, and then take it to an electronics repair shop.
Inspect The Power Supply
If the wall socket or extension cord to which the power cable of the LG subwoofer is connected is not working, then the LED won’t turn on.
Your wall socket or the extension cord might have become faulty.
So all you need to do is unplug the subwoofer and connect it to a different wall socket.
Or, if you use an extension cord to connect your subwoofer to power, get rid of the extension cord and try connecting the subwoofer directly to a wall socket.
If the subwoofer turns on immediately after connecting to a different power outlet, the problem is definitely with the wall socket extension cord.
Faulty Power Cable
A faulty power cable is yet another reason the LG subwoofer has no power light.
Unplug the LG subwoofer.
Closely inspect the cable for any damage that might interrupt the power supply. If the cable is damaged, the subwoofer will fail to receive any power.
The power LED won’t light up if the power does not reach the subwoofer internals.
It is also possible that the power cable connection might have detached from the power supply board inside the subwoofer.
If your subwoofer is out of warranty, use a star head screwdriver to remove all the screws from the backside of the subwoofer.
After unscrewing all the screws, gently lift the back panel to reveal the internals.
See if the power cable connection is detached from the power supply board. If yes, you will need to solder it back and then screw the back panel back in.
If you are not proficient enough to do this yourself, you may take the subwoofer to any local electronics service center, and they should help you.

Why LG Subwoofer LED Is Off and Won’t Turn On?
There are a couple of reasons why your LG subwoofer power light is not turning on, and the subwoofer itself won’t turn on.
- Corrupt firmware: A couple of months ago, a firmware update bricked many LG subwoofers. Since the firmware update took place automatically, users didn’t have much to do about it. The only way to eliminate the problem is to replace the PCB or flash ROM.
- Faulty PCB: Various factors like sudden power surges can cause damaged PCB. If your LG subwoofer’s PCB is damaged, you must contact the LG support team and arrange a replacement. You will be asked to take your subwoofer to the nearest service center or ship it to the given address.
- Power supply problems: Damaged cable or faulty wall socket or extension cord is another reason the LG subwoofer’s power light won’t turn on. Inspect the cable for damage and try connecting the subwoofer to a different wall socket or extension cord.
